How to Have Fun in the Vall

16 Aug

There are some super cool things going on in the Mad River Valley right NOW! Check it all out:

  • Rock the River – Wednesday August 17, Lareau Farm, Waitsfield – Support the Friends of the Mad River and ROCK OUT to some awesome bands! Enter the Junky Boat Race! Prizes, Door Prizes and Live & Silent Auctions so you can take home some sweet swag! Doors at 5pm. Ticket $15
  • Locally Grown - Thursday August 18, The Big Picture, Waitsfield – The 5th annual Mad 4 Music presents “Locally Grown” featuring three of the Mad River Valley’s most talented bands; PHINEAS GAGE, THE MAD MOUNTAIN SCRAMBLERS and THE GRIFT, all under one roof with a rumored collective three band jam finale! First time all three bands have performed together and perhaps the last…don’t miss your chance to get a bluegrass, rock, jazz and blues fix with one ticket! Doors at 7:30. Tickets $12 advance/$15 door.
  • Vermont Festival of the Arts – Now though Labor Day, All across the Mad River Valley – The towns and villages of the Mad River Valley play host to one of the most diverse festivals in New England. With more than 125 arts-related events and activities, the Vermont Festival of the Arts is designed to entertain the soul, enlighten the mind, and energize the spirit. Check out their webpage for a full calendar of events.
  • SIPtemberfest – Saturday September 24, Mad River Glen, Fayston – The best little beerfest in Vermont happens right in the Vall! Get your tickets sooner than later – they tend to sell out… Ticket $25 for ten tastes and a souvenir glass.
  • Beat the Heat – All summer long our Valley has tons of fun swimming holes that you can sneak off to. Just remember not to litter and if you’re going to BYOB, cans don’t break like glass… thanks!
  • EAT – there are some kick-booty places to fill your belly in our area. The Green Cup (sit outside if you can!), The Mad Taco (Try a Cubano and bring your Lucha Libre mask.) and The Big Picture (eat while you watch a movie)  and Maynard’s Snack Bar (Zucchini fries, a cheeseburger and a Maple Creamie please!) are some of my favorites, but there are tons of other options as well.
